Formerly known as Maghull Amateur Operatic Society
Formed by Mr. Gerry Fogarty, in 1972 as Maghull Amateur Operatic Society the first performance "South Pacific" was staged at the Neptune Theatre, Liverpool in 1973. It was an overwhelming success.
After three years the society moved to to the Empire Theatre, where it produced "Rose Marie" and "Carousel", this venture proving to be far too expensive they decided to take the company to Crosby Civic Hall where they had fine happy, successful years, performing such shows as "Viva Mexico" and "My Fair Lady".
In order to appeal to a wider audience, they booked the Little Theatre, Southport, and after many very happy years, the society is hoping to see many many more performances staged in this theatre. They have happy memories of "The Wizard of Oz, "Hello Dolly", "Fiddler on the Roof and "Love from Judy".
The Company has produced shows of high quality and excellence for almost 35 years. We produce two major shows a year, one in June and one in October. We have also performed concerts in aid of The Mayor of Maghull's Charity at the Town Hall in Maghull, most recently in January 2006, raising £550 for "Zoe's Place".
We meet every Thursday at St. Andrews Parish Hall, Damfield Lane , Maghull at 8.00 pm for chorus rehearsals and on Tuesdays at 8.00 pm at St. George's United Reformed Church Hall, Larchwood Avenue for principal rehearsals.
