Reviews

Reviews - Colin McGenty, NODA North West

This well performed miscellany of show songs, devised round a theatre due to close, was well done. The biggest problem facing any company when trying to do this type of entertainment is to keep the action flowing and that they did and in a very entertaining way.

The opening I particularly enjoyed and the company sang "Comedy Tonight" with gusto.

It was nice to see the ladies in the "When I take my morning Promenade". And the number which followed was "Cat Like Tread" from Pirates and performed by the funniest of pirates I have come across, well done lads. "Shall we dance" was next but executed well and again I enjoyed the ladies in "Life Upon the Wicked Stage".

After the interval we had an enchanting rendition of "Don't put your daughter on the stage Mrs. Worthington" with, of course, the children the stars.

"Tea for two" was a hoot with the Tea Lady in the form of Joyce Perrin stealing the show. But this was a show showing the whole of the society with no one person standing out more than another.

The final number was worth the wait as the young ladies of the society gave us the "Cell block Tango" from Chicago.

A very well executed evening's entertainment where everyone should have found something to enjoy and also a happy ending, always welcome.
