NODA Review

We had here a rather slow opening. The success of this show depends on its slickness. This was not the case in Fugue for Tin Horns although, as the production progressed, so did the pace.

Neil Townsend gave a creditable performance as Sky but Paula Copeland, as Sarah, although acting well, voice-wise, was weak. Eric Rimmer and Carol Kennedy as Nathan Detroit and Adelaide partnered well. There was a nice cameo from Davida Bentham.

The dancing could have been better e.g. the Hot Box number, but Luck Be A Lady was excellent. The chorus, especially in Sit Down, You're Rocking the Boat, and the orchestra were well handled by Edna Lally.

The costumes for the Salvation Army were rather vivid. Overall, this was a good production by Molly Jackson and one which was well received by the audience.
