NODA Review
This is not an easy show to produce. What show really is? It has eight scenes in the first act and ten in the second. Davida Bentham's direction was slick and well paced and there were no embarrassing pauses or blackouts while waiting for something to happen.
Jo Horrocks handled the demanding role of Charity very well, although not a dancer. Sarah Bentham's choreograph was well within her capabilities, especially in If My Friends Could See me Now. Two good portrayals were given by Gaynor Hale and Sally Lane as Nickie and Helene and their duet Baby, Dream Your Dream was very good. Graham Jones was a very talented Oscar and I found Mark Duffy, an excellent Vittorio Vidal, well partnered by Jackie Padden as Ursula. I thoroughly enjoyed Les Hampson as Herman, and his rendition of I Love to Cry at Weddings was superb.
The Rhythm of Life number was fast and furious, and the scene in the elevator was hilarious. Neil Griffiths was a suitably flowerbedecked Daddy Brubeck.
I must mention the two young ladies in I'm a Brass Band, an excellent tap routine and thoroughly enjoyed by myself and the audience.
Thank you for a splendid evening's entertainment.
